Silica Information
Please be informed we take safety precautions regarding silica very seriously. All our team members manufacture with water in order to keep the dust particles to a minimum.
All our team members have been fitted with their own masks to provide extra protection against silica dust. We also have our team members book in annually for lung CT tests in order to monitor their health.
We follow the current guidelines for silica dust exposure so please rest assured we are doing all we can to keep everyone safe.
Customers are not at risk of exposure of silica dust from their benchtops as the risk is mainly during manufacture, when cutting the Engineered stone.
Engineered stone is among just one of the materials containing silica. Other materials containing silica are concrete, glass, sand and dirt, just to name a few.
Engineered stone has been heightened in the media recently but we would like to point out that our Engineered Stone Suppliers are trying to accommodate with low silica material (less than 40% for most – then Cosentino’s Dekton range with 11%) which is significantly less than the original high silica materials.

SILICA BAN UPDATE AS OF APRIL 2024
All our suppliers of man made stone will be transitioning to Zero % silica products. Keeping the aesthetics of the current colours but changing their composition of stone to make it safer for usage. Some colours will also be discontinued. So please contact us if you are after a specific colour and we can confirm asap, whether it’s still available.
Please bear with us while we are in the Transition period of Discontinued colours in the old low and high silica products of each supplier. The New Zero% Silica material will be available for use asap.
What does this mean with pricing? Unfortunately we will have to raise our pricing slightly to to keep up with the market as the suppliers material costs will also increase Nation Wide.
Key notes to consider:
- Our last date to place any orders for the old Low and High silica products is the 03rd of June 2024.
- Our last Installation date for any Low to High silica material is the 29th of June 2024.
- We will not be going ahead with any orders for Low to High silica containing products as of the 04th of June 2024 and a re-quote will need to be provided in the Zero% products for any existing quotes (received prior to the 3rd June 2024) which you wish to go ahead with.
